Harry Avrutin, a native of Philadelphia, was a charter member and business representative of Local 153 of the Office and Professional Employees from 1945 to 1949. He became secretary-treasurer of the New York State Union Label and Service Trade Department and of the Greater New York and Long Island Council, A.F.L.-C.I.O., in 1949.
